IMPORTANT INFORMATION

PLEASE READ, important information enclosed:

Monday is an organizational day for teachers so there is no school for students.

Our support staff in the building is going on a sporadic strike; meaning they will go out on strike for a couple days and return on Thursday. This will begin next Tuesday and Wednesday. This means that students will not have access to cafeteria food and will need to bring their lunch. If your son or daughter is going to be away from Social-homeroom 8-2 please call 777-7770 ext 2020 to inform myself or send a note ahead of time if possible or when they return and turn it into their homeroom teacher.

Friday's Class

Today we were not able to correct yesterday's work as students were still completing questions. The Chapter 9 questions will be due on Tuesday and corrected in class. The grade 6 tour disrupted part of our period 3 Social class today.

Thursday's Class

Today in class the Moctezuma and Cortes cartoon are due today. We worked on chapter 9 questions from pages 303 to 315. We will be correcting these tomorrow in class.

There will be a test at the end of next week, probably Thursday on all of the Aztec Unit. We have a review class next Wednesday.

Monday's class

Students were told at the beginning on class they had until tomorrow to hand in their Compare and Contrast booklets.

Today everyone worked on a six panel cartoon explaining the events of Cortes and Moctezuma I meeting and the final fall of the Aztecs. We will continue to work on these tomorrow in class. Wednesday will the our annual sports day so there will be no social classes depending on the weather.

Friday's Class

Today we took notes from the LCD projector on the Compare and Contrast chart. I've told 8-2 that theirs will be on due on Monday and 8-1's will be due on Tuesday because of the fire drill that happened in class today. They are permitted to work with other students and share information to finish this booklet.

This week

We have been watching a movie this week which finished today. Tomorrow we will be completing our compare and contrast chart; which will be due on Monday.

Tuesday and Wednesday's class

Yesterday we completed a fill in the blanks sheet on the History of Spain.

Today we corrected yesterdays work and began working on the Ch 8 Compare and Contrast Chart. it can be downloaded at: http://docs.google.com/Doc?id=dcbdzc94_48cgz64vg3 . We will be working on this for roughly the next 2 classes.

Tuesday's Class

Today in class we completed a fill in the blanks sheet on the History of the Spanish and Aztecs. I have informed the class that we will be completing out study of the Aztecs by the end of the month and using June as our review time. That means there is only 10 classes left. There will be a test at the end of the month on the Aztecs.

Monday's Class

Today in class we worked on the following sheet. Students were to work in partners or alone to answer the questions using their text book. We corrected the assignment at the end of class and students handed in their work.

Friday's class

Today the Aztec Posters were due. Students could come in at lunch hour to put finishing touches on them if they needed.

Tuesday's Class

Yesterday and today students worked on their poster project. Tomorrow will be the last class for the assignment. The poster will be due on Friday May 9

Thursday's Class

Today 8-1 worked on their Aztec Poster project in groups of 1-3 students.

8-2 Attended a drumming session with David Thiaw during their Social block.
